Azusa is a city in Los Angeles County, in the Los Angeles-Long Beach metro area.

One tradition says the name derives from an Indian term for "hill to the east," while another has it that a local store sold everything "from A to Z in the USA." The community is in the Pacific Standard time zone. The latitude of Azusa is 34.133N. The longitude is -117.906W. Elevation is 610 feet.The estimated population, in 2003, was 46,962.

Azusa is at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains and was founded
during the real estate boom of the 1880s. The city was a former
shipping center for citrus fruits and avocados. In a 1995 referendum,
voters rejected casino gambling.

However, Azusa's is mostly known for Azusa Pacific University
(APU), which is one of the nations most prestigious Christian
Universities throughout the country. With close to 8,000 students
in all attending the University, they have a major impact in the community.
